What is the Study Period?
The study period refers to the duration set for students to complete a specific number of study credits in a particular program. Each level of education has a maximum study period for fulfilling the required credits in their program.
What is the Maximum Study Period at BINUS University?
The maximum study period set by BINUS University is as follows:
- 5 years for Diploma Four (D4) and Bachelor’s programs, both Regular and International.
If a student fails to complete their studies within the maximum period, they will undergo a study evaluation that could result in a status change to “dismissed.”
What are the Student Success Indicators?
The minimum requirements for evaluating student success each semester are:
- Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.00.
- A cumulative total of at least 15 credits (SKS) or its multiples.
A simulation of these minimum standards is shown in the table below:
Table: Simulation of Study Success Evaluation
Syarat minimum IPK dan SKS Kumulatif | Follow-Up Actions if Minimum Requirements Are Not Met
Last Semester | GPA | Credits with Grade A/A-/B+/B-/B/C/D
1 | >= 2,00 | >= 15 | Receiving a Warning Letter |
2 | >= 2,00 | >= 30 | Receiving a Warning Letter |
3 | >= 2,00 | >= 45 | Receiving a Warning Letter |
4 | >= 2,00 | >= 60 | Receiving a Warning Letter |
5 | >= 2,00 | >= 75 | Receiving a Warning Letter |
6 | >= 2,00 | >= 90 | Receiving a Warning Letter |
7 | >= 2,00 | >= 115 | Receiving a Warning Letter |
8 | >= 2,00 | >= 130 | Receiving a Warning Letter |
>8 | >= 2,00 | Not Reaching 146 Credits (SKS) | Receiving a Warning Letter |
Is There Monitoring to Ensure Students Graduate on Time?
Yes, there is ongoing monitoring to help ensure students graduate on time. Through the counseling sub-unit under the Student Advisory section, academic progress is tracked and evaluated every semester.
- Evaluation results are shared with the respective Program or Study Program, the student, and their parents.
- Students not meeting the academic standards will receive a warning letter, accessible through the Message section in BINUSMAYA Academic Services (https://binusmaya.binus.ac.id).
- Parents will also be informed via SMS sent to the phone number registered during re-registration.
Follow-Up Actions After Receiving a Warning
After a warning letter is issued:
- The student and their parents will be invited for a consultation to identify challenges and explore alternative solutions.
- These steps aim to help the student complete their studies within the prescribed study period.
What Happens If a Student Exceeds the Maximum Study Period?
If a student exceeds the maximum study period, their status may change to Dismissed or Drop Out.
- This occurs if the student cannot complete their academic requirements within the allotted time.
- The maximum study period includes any academic leave taken by the student.
