What is a Freshmen Partner (FP)?
A Freshmen Partner (FP) is an active BINUS University student selected to assist first-year students (Freshmen) during the Excellence Program – First Year Program (FYP). The role of the FP is important, as they help Freshmen adapt to the campus environment and academic system.
While the Freshmen Leader (FL) focuses primarily on orientation activities during the First Year Program (FYP) before the academic term begins, the Freshmen Partner (FP) provides ongoing guidance and support to Freshmen throughout their first year until they have successfully adapted to university life.
Roles and Responsibilities of a Freshmen Partner
In carrying out their role, Freshmen Partners (FPs) have the responsibility to:

Support Freshmen in adapting to university life by building positive relationships, maintaining effective communication, and serving as personal advisors who are ready to assist and engage in discussions.

Support the implementation of the Excellence Program by providing accurate information and encouraging active participation among Freshmen in all activities and assignments.

Monitor the attendance and overall well-being of Freshmen during the assistance process to ensure their comfort and optimal engagement throughout their first year.
Requirements to Become a Freshmen Partner
To become a Freshmen Partner, students must meet the following criteria:

An active student at BINUS UNIVERSITY
-
A minimum GPA of 2.75
-
Having completed a certain number of credits (SKS)
-
Having successfully completed the First Year Program (FYP)
-
Having no record of violations of the Code of Conduct for Student Activities (Peraturan Tata Tertib Aktivitas Kemahasiswaan [PTTAK])
-
Willingness to undergo the administrative selection and interview process
-
Preferably not participating in a student exchange program during the implementation of the First Year Program (FYP)
Freshmen Partner Registration and Selection Process
The Freshmen Partner (FP) registration process is conducted every April through BINUSMAYA and consists of two main stages: registration and interview.

Registration stage:
Candidates complete a form and provide their personal information. -
Interview stage:
Candidates undergo an in-depth assessment of their motivation, communication skills, time management, initiative, and collaboration abilities to evaluate their readiness for the Freshmen Partner role.
Candidates who pass all stages are officially announced and must attend a training session before beginning their duties.
Training Session for Freshmen Partners
After passing the selection process, Freshmen Partners participate in a series of training sessions before carrying out their role in assisting Freshmen. This training program is designed to strengthen their soft skills and enhance their competence as Freshmen Partners.
The training series includes:

Sessions on self-management and communication

Training for Trainers (TFT) to deepen their understanding of the materials and activities they will facilitate during the Excellence Program

Facilitation skills training to help Freshmen Partners perform their role effectively, interact empathetically, and guide Freshmen professionally
Duration of Mentorship
The assistance period for Freshmen Partners lasts for one academic year. During this time, FPs play an active role in supporting Freshmen through regular meetings, motivating them, and building positive relationships.
Before the assistance period begins, Freshmen Partners participate in briefings, training series, and technical preparation to ensure the assistance process runs effectively and provides a meaningful and memorable experience for Freshmen.
