In accordance with the latest policy from Microsoft, there are changes to the Microsoft Office services used by BINUSIAN, including both students and lecturers. These changes are related to the retirement of the Office 365 A1 Plus for Faculty and Students license previously used within BINUS University.

As a replacement, Microsoft now provides the Office 365 A1 for Faculty and Students license with several service adjustments.

A. Impact of Service Changes

With this license change, several adjustments need to be noted:

1. Discontinuation of Office Desktop Apps

Microsoft Office desktop applications such as:

  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint

are no longer available for local installation on user devices.

2. Transition to Office Web Apps

All Office applications are now accessible via web-based versions through a browser:
https://m365.cloud.microsoft/apps

3. Email Services Remain Available

Email services via Outlook remain accessible as usual through:

  • Web browser
  • Outlook application (desktop/mobile)

4. Limitations of Office Web Apps

The use of web-based Office applications comes with several limitations, including:

  • Internet connection is required (online only)
  • Limited external integrations and third-party add-ins

5. Applications No Longer Available

The following Microsoft applications are not available under this license:

  • Microsoft Access
  • Microsoft Publisher

B. Affected Domains

This change applies to users with the following domains:

  • binus.ac.id
  • satu.ac.id
  • binusian.org

C. Additional Information

This change is being implemented gradually by Microsoft; therefore, not all users may experience the impact at the same time.
