Student Organizations are required to maintain healthy and efficient financial management to ensure the sustainability of their activities. One of the most important elements in financial management is the Financial Report.
Financial reports are essential for measuring organizational performance, monitoring the achievement of targets, and supporting decision-making processes. Therefore, they must be prepared in a clear, transparent, and accountable manner.
Definition of Student Organization Financial Reports
A financial report is a document that contains information on the organization’s income, expenses, and overall financial condition.
In Student Organizations, the preparation of financial reports is usually the responsibility of the General Treasurer, as these reports are not only used to calculate profit and loss but also serve as a reference for evaluation and financial policy decisions.
Importance of Consistent Financial Reporting
Since financial reports play a crucial role in the sustainability of an organization, they must be recorded:
-
Consistently
-
Regularly
-
With accurate and accountable data
Proper financial reporting helps maintain transparency and builds trust among members and related stakeholders.
Types of Financial Reports in Student Organizations
Student Organizations generally prepare two main types of financial reports:
1. Event Financial Report
This report is part of the Event Proposal or Activity Accountability Report (LPJ).
It contains detailed records of income and expenses during the event and is reviewed by the Student Support Office (SSO) Area.
2. Monthly Financial Report
This report is a summary of all financial transactions recorded in the organization’s bank account each month.
The Monthly Financial Report is reviewed by the Student Involvement Center (SIC) to monitor the organization’s overall financial condition.
Treasurer Training by SIC
To ensure that General Treasurers are capable of preparing proper financial reports, the Student Involvement Center (SIC) regularly conducts financial training sessions for newly appointed treasurers.
Through these training programs, treasurers learn:
-
How to prepare clear financial reports
-
Principles of transparency and accountability
-
Detailed financial documentation
-
How to evaluate organizational fund usage
The goal is to ensure that financial reports can be used as effective evaluation tools for Student Organizations.
