Drug abuse, especially among young people, is becoming increasingly concerning. The high rate of drug abuse among the younger generation, including university students, has led the Ministry of Education to classify it as one of the major misconduct issues in higher education.
Young people are considered emotionally vulnerable, making them more susceptible to negative influences. Various factors can contribute to drug abuse, such as curiosity, peer pressure, a desire to experiment, strong group solidarity, unhealthy social environments, and lack of family support.
In response to this challenge, BINUS is committed to creating a drug-free campus environment through preventive and educational efforts.
BINUS’s Commitment to Preventing Drug Abuse
1. Zero Drugs Campaign
BINUS actively conducts the Zero Drugs campaign through various initiatives, including:
-
Posters and banners promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle
-
Seminars and awareness programs on the dangers of drugs
-
Other educational activities
In addition, BINUS encourages students to engage in positive activities such as community service (comserv) and student organizations to reduce the risk of drug abuse.
2. Collaboration with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN)
BINUS collaborates with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) to maintain a drug-free campus.
One of the key initiatives is the annual urine drug testing program as a preventive and early detection measure.
3. Student Counseling Services
BINUS provides counseling services supported by professional counselors. This service allows students to share their concerns, seek guidance, and receive emotional support during their academic journey.
This supportive approach helps students manage stress and personal challenges without resorting to harmful behaviors such as drug abuse.
4. Strict Regulations through the Student Activity Code of Conduct (PTTAK)
As a demonstration of its commitment, BINUS has established the Student Activity Code of Conduct (PTTAK), which strictly prohibits any form of drug abuse, especially within the campus environment.
Violations of this regulation will result in disciplinary actions in accordance with university policies.
