One of the core values upheld at BINUS is integrity. Integrity refers to the alignment between thoughts, words, and actions. BINUS students are expected to apply this value in their daily activities, both academic and non-academic.
As part of its commitment to academic integrity, BINUS enforces strict regulations against exam cheating, including copying answers and committing plagiarism of others’ intellectual work.
Students who violate these rules may be subject to dismissal from the university, in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
Since When Has This Regulation Been Enforced?
This regulation has been in effect since 2016, based on:
-
Rector’s Decree No. 1426/SK/PTTKK-UBN/VII/2016 on Campus Life Regulations,
which was later updated to: -
Rector’s Regulation No. 001/TTA KMHS-PER.UBINUS/VIII/2023 on Student Code of Conduct.
Why Was This Regulation Implemented?
This policy reflects BINUS’s commitment to developing students who are not only academically competent, but also possess:
-
Integrity
-
Honesty
-
Responsibility
These values are essential for students’ future professional and social lives.
How Is the Regulation Implemented?
To ensure compliance, BINUS conducts continuous awareness campaigns, including:
-
Displaying reminder posters across campus
-
Broadcasting recorded messages from the Rector about academic honesty
-
Delivering reminders by exam invigilators before exams begin
These efforts aim to prevent violations and strengthen students’ awareness of academic integrity.
However, if exam cheating or plagiarism is still found, BINUS will take strict disciplinary action in accordance with applicable regulations.
From 2016 to the end of 2024, more than 200 students were unable to continue their studies at BINUS due to proven cases of exam cheating and/or plagiarism.
